Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The IPL 2025 Final will be hosted at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahamadabad on June 3 and will move forward with these plans after further consultation in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Meeting Mumbai. Moreover, Ahmedabad has also been selected to host Qualifier 2 on June 1.
New Chandigarh to host first two playoffs matches
The first two playoff matches—Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator—will be held in Ahamadbad, New Chandigarh on May 29 and 30. Their decision stems from current weather conditions, which is affording the North Indian region respite from rain for the time being.
These are the locations and venues chosen for their predicted weather patterns surrounding the event.
During a meeting of the Governing Council of BCCI on May 20, there was much scrutinous focus on the weather scenario towards the end of May and start of June is set to decide on June forecasts. The selection to attend these locations was predetermined based on the dominant perception of no rainfall as expected in the rest of the country.
A senior BCCI official commented, “After the war, it is the weather,” shedding light on the reasoning behind such sudden changes in pre-planned venue decisions for the event that are made with further consideration and analysis along in the previous season’s abrupt and unexplained conditions.
CAB’s Request for Final Games Allocation has been Turned Down
The Bengal Cricket Association had lobbied for the final two matches on the Eden Gardens in Kolkata due to last year’s title triumph by Kolkata Knight Riders. The KICC also noted that the increased likelihood for rainfall in the region was the reason the BCCI decided to move the venue further west.
Shifting Hyderabad Playoffs’ Schedule
The initial plans included the first two playoff matches being located in Hyderabad. Due to harsh weather predictions for the city, BCCI relocated those matches to New Chandigarh where the weather is predicted to be more favorable.
Lucknow Hosts RCB vs SRH Match
In another venue shift, the RCB vs Sunrisers Hyderabad game that was to be played on May 23 at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru has been transferred to Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. The match will still be termed as a home game for the RCB despite the shift in location.
