Suspense crime, Digital Desk : India has seen a modest rise in its active COVID-19 caseload, which has now approached the 3,900 mark, according to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry. In the past 24 hours, the country also recorded four additional deaths attributed to the virus.

The official figures, updated Friday morning, indicated 492 new coronavirus infections, pushing the total number of currently active cases to 3,903. The four recent fatalities were reported from Karnataka, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and Tamil Nadu, with one death occurring in each of these states.

Since the onset of the pandemic in January 2020, India has documented a cumulative total of 4,50,32,210 COVID-19 cases. The nationwide death toll directly linked to the virus now stands at 5,33,516.

On a more positive note, 575 individuals successfully recovered from the infection within the last 24-hour period. This brings the total number of recoveries across the country to 4,44,94,791. India maintains a strong national recovery rate, currently at 98.81%.

The country's extensive vaccination campaign also continues, with official data showing that over 220.67 crore (2.20 billion) doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to date. While the current numbers represent a significant decrease from peak pandemic levels, health authorities continue to monitor the situation.
