India was filled with joy as Rohith Sharma sticks the Champions Trophy with him and his team after defeating Newzeland in Dubai, winning the first ever 50-over ICC title in a span of 12 years. The finale not only set a record on the streaming service JioHotstar, but shattered it with 6.1 crore people watching at the same time: a world record according to their LinkedIn post.

Jio aired the post saying, “This goes down as the highest number of people simultaneously watching an event live.”

The final match also surpassed the record of 5.9 crore viewers for the final ICC World Cup 2023.

The over 90 crore views on Jioshotstar is insane compared to 60 crore views for the India-Pakistan match earlier in the tournament.

India’s 252-run chase was astonishing, but Newzeland’s inning had them hooked as well. And with Newzeland winning the toss, they had the upper hand starting the game.

Remember that views on OTT platforms are non unique and can be counted multiple times with the same person.

During New Zealands innings, viewership peaked at 39.7 crore. Indian bowlers did their best in containing th Kiwis who steadily crafted their innings to put 251 on the board. Kuldeep Yadav removed Kane Williamson and Rachin Ravindra in what was a stunning spell of bowling. Varun Chakaravarthy also chipped in towards the end, maintaining his good form and contributing to India’s superb bowling display.

Captain Rohit Sharma and Vice-captain Shubman Gill commenced the chase in commanding fashion. “Hitman” Sharma was aggressive against the Kiwis but Gill’s wicket coupled with Kohli’s dismissal was rather nerve shaking for the audience.

India’s momentum was checked briefly, but they didn’t waste much time before adding to their score and double. In the 44th over when India required 40 runs off 36 balls, viewership peaked at 78 crore. The viewership increased to 78.5 crore when KL Rahul hit a six.

Another six from Hardik Panday on the very next ball and the viewership shot up to 79.6 crore. He was caught and bowled by the tall Kyle Jamieson soon after. With 11 runs to get in 15 balls, India’s viewership numbers soared to 82.2 crore.

When India needed to score five runs in 11 balls, viewership soared to 83.2 crore, and climbed to 83.8 crore when Jadeja scored the winning boundary. With India's victory, viewership increased to 84.5 crore.

The Men in Blue kept the audience hooked and were undefeated, making crucial matches spectacular to watch.

On February 23, India's rival match against Pakistan hit 60.2 crore views, while India's semi-final match against Australia saw an amazing 66.9 crore views.

India-Pakistan rivalry is renowned as one of the most spectacular match ups in cricket history, and the semi finals of the World Cup is no exception. This thrilling match was viewed by over 20.6 crore of fans, allowing it to rank two in BARC's data for non World Cup matches.

The match between India and Pakistan for the Champions Trophy 2025 blew out the previous 50 over India-Pakistan tussle for ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup India 2023. The television rating (TVR) systems gives it an 11 percent advantages over the 2023 ODI World Cup in Ahmedabad. In the same match, Virat Kohli became the world record holders of 14,000 ODI runs, as the game came in at an astounding 2,609 crore minutes of TV viewed.

The India-Pakistan Clash of the Titans has previously led to these increases with ad pricing jumping to 50 lakhs for 10 seconds.

Before the final the prediction was beyond 40 lakhs for the 10 seconds alongside a digital rate of 725 CPM.
