Suspense Crime, Digital Desk : Bangladesh on Thursday received an official request from India to ascertain the nationality status of 2,369 individuals who are presumed to be undocumented migrants from the bordering nation. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has underlined that this verification process must be concluded in order to facilitate deportation.
Jaiswal said in a statement, “We have requested the Bangladeshi authorities to verify the nationality of this set of people. They are part of a list of people earmarked for deportation.”
Verifications Stall Deportations
This, as other speakers, noted how a number of them have already completed their sentences. This leaves them in limbo awaiting deportation pending nationality verification process, some of which dates back to 2020.
In reference to previously reported illegal immigrants into India, Jaiswal said: “We wish to state once again that any foreign national who is illegally residing in India will be dealt with as per the law, regardless of the nation from which he comes.”
India Asks Dhaka to Accelerate The Processes
MEAs call for faster verification was directed to Bangladeshi officials. Jaiswal issued this comment, “We appeal to the Bengali side to do everything possible to hasten the verification in order deportations to take place.”
Background: India and Bangladesh Are About To Go To War

The scenario worsened when the interim government headed by Muhammad Yunus tried and failed to control rampant violence towards the minorities especially the Hindus which increased resentment and trust between the nations eroded.
