Suspense crime, Digital Desk : India’s key sources from the government have stated that the ceasefire India and Pakistan held does not emanate from the threats posed by US President Donald Trump in relation to trade. These sources state, ‘While us officials did interact with Indians during this time, trade was not on the table.’

These officials confirmed that US Vice President JD Vance spoke to Prime Minister Modi on the latter’s Sindoor operation on the 9th of May. Furthermore, Secretary Rubio spoke to S Jaishankar on the 8th and Doval on the 10th. In all these conversations none of the parties spoke of trade pressure conditions.

How it all began

Things took off when Trump came off stating on the 12th of May that he warned both India and Pakistan. In essence, he told them they needed to resume their fighting because it would stop business and trade relations. Essentially, he said he would allow relations only if the fighting ceased.

Trump Thanks US Business Tactics for Heretofore Ceasefire

Trump says the use of trade as leverage was a novel idea. Alluding to his administration, he noted that what he called a “permanent ceasefire” was achieved between the two countries. In addition, he said America was pivotal in the swift abatement of the conflict.

While talking about what comes next after the ceasefire, Trump stated that trade talks with India and Pakistan will resume. He pinpointed ongoing negotiations with Indian officials and future talks with Pakistan.
