Bahraich: In the Mahsi area of ​​Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh, after three villagers were bitten by a dog from Thursday night to Friday morning, the villagers mistook the dog for a wolf and beat it to death with sticks. Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Ajit Pratap Singh told reporters on Friday evening that forest workers reached the spot as soon as they received news of an animal attack on resident Sangam Lal in Majra Lodhanpurva of village Yadavpur in Mahsi tehsil area at around 9.30 pm on Thursday. 

Mistaking the dog for a wolf, he was beaten to death with sticks

The villagers reported a wolf attack but the forest staff could not find any footprints of the wolf. The DFO said that on Friday morning again information was received from the same village that some animal had attacked Kriparam (65) and his grandson Satyam (4). After the attack, the villagers mistook the animal for a wolf and beat it to death with sticks. When the forest staff arrived, the dead animal turned out to be a dog. No footprints of the wolf were found in the village. Injured Kriparam also said on seeing the dead dog that the same animal had attacked. Treatment of the injured is going on.

A wolf attacked a child in Golwa village

At the same time, in Golwa village of Mahsi tehsil of the district, an eight-year-old child was allegedly attacked and injured by a wolf. The mother of the injured Sangam Lal, Phoolmati, said that on Thursday night the child was playing near the door of the house when the wolf attacked and injured him. She said that people reached there after hearing the child’s scream, after which the wolf ran away from there.

8 people have died

Let us tell you that since March, people have been attacked by wolves in the Mahsi tehsil area of ​​Bahraich. The attacks increased during the rainy season and from July till Monday night, a total of eight people including seven children died due to these attacks. About three dozen people including women, children and the elderly have been injured. Out of these, about 20 people are seriously injured.
