IMD June Forecast:Extreme weather diverging as mountains snow over a burning 47 C India hot map
IMD June Forecast:It is evident that there is divergent weather pattern across the nation with the beginning of June. While, north of the nation, Delhi in particular is finding respite from scorching summer heat with continuous rain in last couple of days, the other parts of India are bracing themselves up for extreme weather situation of heatwave. At the same time, higher altitudes in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are receiving fresh snowfall causing huge surge in number of tourists, hence bringing administration in problems.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) June 1, National Capital is found to have break from the peak summer months with temperature around 40-degree Celsius. This time again life became difficult in the western part of India with severe dust storms and strong winds recorded in Rajasthan during last 24 hrs with which a general ease of life were not possible.
IMD report: Extreme weather moving from Capital to Central India
It is found that weather trend has very peculiar properties this year. The effect of wind direction along with low-level moistures has been able to keep temperatures of the Delhi-NCR region reasonable. The very aggressive dry winds have increased the temperature in both the central and the west region.
According to the five-day weather prediction released by IMD, the heatwave's epicenter is moving from capital to the subsequent belts:
North-West & Central India: Rajasthan & Madhya Pradesh.
North & East Belts: South & Eastern belts of Uttar Pradesh & Chhattisgarh.
South & Deccan: Telangana & Vidarbha and Marathwada belts of Maharashtra.
The temperatures of all the above belts are likely to range from 44 to 47 degrees Celsius, causing unbearable and lethal high heat conditions for the inhabitants there.
Night temperature also shows no let-up in arid regions
The problem gets exacerbated by sustained high night temperatures being recorded in many parts of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The temperatures are not cooling down sufficiently during the night to provide adequate relief to the people from daytime's extreme heat stress.
The intensity of heatwaves is expected to further increase with more stronger dry hot winds reaching the regions and causing the authorities of respective states to issue health advisories for the citizens of vulnerable areas.
