South Korean actress Seo Yea Ji has spoken for the first time since the 2021 gaslighting saga which had affected her career. She addressed allegations of staff abuse during her first variety show in a few years. After opening up about her career and personal life, she gained attention after she was brought into controversy. Most recently, she was involved in drama with Kim Soo Hyun. For those who do not follow, the actress who used to be under Gold Medalist's agency became the subject of dating rumors with the actor after they worked together on the drama It’s Okay to Not Be Okay in 2020. Seo Yea Ji returns to the Variety Show after eight years. Seo Yea Ji returned to variety shows on March 30, 2023 when she was on a outing in Wonju, Gangwon Province and made a guest appearance in TV CHOSUN’s Huh Young-man's Table Tour. She was last seen on her variety show JTBC's Knowing Bros back in 2017.
Even before the Korean entertainment community could recover from the falsely accused controversy regarding and surrounding Seo Yea Ji, actress Kim Soo Hyun added fuel to the fire by hinting at dating Seo. Kuma Films decided to shift the post production of their drama Leah and the Magical Dress from the Philippines to South Korea to make use of the recent scandals surrounding cast member and leading lady Leah.

“I have many scars”: Seo Yea Ji on her dark roles Shure’s director made her get out the farm, just a day after meeting her sparking up her acting career. Today she is known for acting in ‘Potato Star 2013QR3’ which is a sitcom that starred against 2013-2014. She noted that glory always comes with scars and not every role is as simple as people think. Yea Ji also opened up about the emotional and psychological impact this has had on her as an actress. In her opinion revenge- motivated roles stemmed from having to deal with her own emotional pain. However, the take away from all of that violence was clarity and understanding what life truly meant. At an age where most naïvety takes over, 34 year old Seo Yea Ji has been through an extensive experience with manipulation and toxicity. “There were a few stress-inducing aspects…meeting people became challenging,” was her response around the retrieving fact that few stressed her.

For the actress, accepting acting frustrations seemed quite the process. Initially, she rationalized it, but later on, it was more complicated than just moving on. Not dealing with these issues bred a plethora of misunderstandings that were at the end of the day counter productive to her mental wellbeing.

The Save Me actress was in the eye of the storm in 2021 because of gaslighting claims against her ex boyfriend, Kim Jung Hyun, who was allegedly the victim of her abuse. The claims went between academic degree forgery, bullying, and mistreatment of educational staff.
In turn, she faced quite the backlash, if only briefly. These days, there seems to be a change in the conversation. With all the abuses of power swirling around, she mostly sticks to claiming violence, deception, and abuse of power. This false narrative deeply hurt her career forcing her into a two year long hiatus.

In one of her most recent posts from March 13, 2025, Seo Yea Ji revealed that she had removed a remark she made to an aggressive comment. While addressing her fans, she said, “I am only human...I am sick, tired and filled with emotion.” When fans questioned her in-depth about the rumors revolving her and Kim Soo Hyun, she admitted “I wish people would… please… stop.”
In response she said, “I currently have no relationship with him and his cousin. I don't understand why I have to defend myself, but I’m stupidly annoyed tonight. So, good night yeyes.”
