Ladwa is considered to be the most important seat in the Haryana assembly elections. Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini himself is contesting for this seat. At the same time, Congress has given a ticket to Meva Singh against him. Naib Singh Saini has filed nomination papers for the state assembly elections to be held on October 5. Candidates of Congress, AAP, and JJP have also filed nominations. The campaigning of all is at its peak and Congress claims that Meva Singh is going to clear the way for forming a Congress government in the state by defeating CM Saini this time.

Naib Singh Saini is currently an MLA from Karnal assembly seat. Former CM of the state Manohar Lal Khattar won the election from here in 2019, but before the Lok Sabha elections, he resigned from the post of MLA along with the Chief Minister. In such a situation, Naib Singh Saini won from here in the by-election. He has taken over both the responsibilities of Chief Minister and Karnal MLA in place of Manohar Lal Khattar.

Saini’s seat changed

Naib Singh Saini is once again in the electoral fray after five months. Saini, who was sworn in as the Chief Minister on March 12, defeated Congress’ Tarlochan Singh from Karnal’s seat in the by-election held on May 25. This time he is facing the challenge of Meva Singh in Ladwa. Saini did not contest the assembly elections in 2019, as he had become an MP from Kurukshetra. Earlier, he had contested elections from Narayangarh in 2010 and 2014. He was defeated in 2010, but he won in 2014.

Meva got victory in 2019

Meva won the Ladwa seat in 2019. He defeated BJP’s Dr. Pawan Saini. Meva Singh got 57665 votes, while Pawan Saini got 45028 votes. INLD’s Sapna Barshami got 15476 votes. This time too the main fight on this seat is between Congress and BJP. Although CM Saini is contesting for the first time in this seat, his popularity across the state cannot be denied. Saini’s victory or defeat will be a symbol of BJP’s performance across the state. If the wave against the BJP persists among farmers and wrestlers, then Saini along with other BJP candidates may lose the election. In this situation, the party is sure to go out of power. On the other hand, if this wave is not real or its effect is not seen in the voting, then BJP can form the government for the third consecutive time.

The results will be declared on October 8

Voting for the 90 assembly seats in Haryana will be held on October 5 and counting will take place on October 8. The last date for filing nominations was September 12, scrutiny of nomination papers was done on September 13 and the last date for withdrawal of nominations was September 16. Earlier the date of voting was October 1 and the date of result was October 4, but the election dates were changed due to the festival.
