Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Celtic capped off their Scottish Premiership-winning season in style, celebrating Trophy Day with a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against St Mirren in an emotionally charged match at a jubilant Celtic Park. The day was defined by a heartfelt farewell to veteran goalkeeper Joe Hart, who played his final league game before retirement.
Despite the party atmosphere in Glasgow, St Mirren threatened to spoil the occasion when captain Mark O'Hara fired them into a surprise early lead. The champions, however, were not to be denied on their big day.
Celtic roared back with two quick-fire goals before halftime. Matt O'Riley leveled the score with a clinical finish, and Kyogo Furuhashi soon put the home side ahead, ensuring the champions went into the break with the lead and the celebratory mood restored.
But the day's most poignant moment arrived late in the second half. In a pre-planned substitution, Joe Hart was taken off to a thunderous, stadium-wide standing ovation. Visibly moved, the former England international embraced his teammates and manager Brendan Rodgers as the crowd chanted his name, honoring a distinguished career.
Luis Palma sealed the victory from the penalty spot in the closing minutes.
After the final whistle, the real celebrations began. Captain Callum McGregor lifted the Scottish Premiership trophy amidst a sea of green and white confetti, marking Celtic's third consecutive league title. The team embarked on a lap of honour, with a tearful Joe Hart addressing the adoring crowd, thanking them for their incredible support.
While the league season is over, Hart has one final match to play: the Scottish Cup Final against arch-rivals Rangers at Hampden Park, where he will have the chance to end his career with a domestic double.
