Manesar Municipal Corporation Set to Build Its Own Nursery to End Rental Costs and Boost City Greenery

The Manesar Municipal Corporation is taking a major step toward administrative self-sufficiency and urban greening by establishing its own dedicated plant nursery. Moving away from the expensive practice of renting flora for official functions, the municipal body has officially initiated the tender process to set up an in-house facility designed to cultivate diverse plant varieties and support large-scale beautification projects across the region.

Streamlining Horticulture and Cutting Rental Expenses

Previously, the Manesar Municipal Corporation relied on renting plants or purchasing fresh stock externally whenever government functions, official events, or city beautification drives required floral displays. Operating under the direct supervision of the corporation's horticulture branch, the new nursery will eliminate these recurring expenditures.

According to municipal plans, the selected executing agency will be tasked with developing the nursery infrastructure and maintaining the facility for an initial period of one year. With an estimated project outlay of approximately nine and a half lakhs, suitable land has already been identified and finalized for the initiative.

Fostering Regional Self-Reliance and Future Expansion

Beyond supplying plants for internal civic functions, official arboriculture programs, and public plantation drives, the municipal corporation envisions broader operational benefits. Executive Engineer Nijesh confirmed that the tender process is progressing rapidly and the contract will be awarded to a qualified agency shortly. Once fully operational, the nursery will not only fulfill municipal requirements independently but also hold the potential to supply plants to neighboring urban bodies, establishing Manesar as a growing hub for municipal horticulture and sustainable urban development.
