Congress MLA Vinesh Phogat Slams State Government Over Unfulfilled Promises
Congress MLA from the Julana assembly constituency in Jind district and former Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat launched a fierce attack on the state administration on Monday, August 31, 2026. Addressing mounting public dissatisfaction, Phogat asserted that public discontent has reached a boiling point across Haryana, leaving virtually every section of society protesting on the streets.
"No Section of Society is Happy With the Government"
Targeting the state leadership regarding governance and employment, Phogat highlighted widespread unrest across multiple sectors. She pointed out that sanitation workers, students, teachers, and elected sarpanches have all been forced to take to the streets due to administrative apathy.
Focusing on the plight of the youth, Phogat stated that despite pre-election promises made two years ago regarding massive employment generation—including pledges of millions of jobs—countless candidates who cleared recruitment cycles still find themselves waiting for their official joining letters. "You can look at the teachers' issue or how sarpanches were treated and beaten up," Phogat remarked, emphasizing that as elected public representatives, Congress leaders will continue to fight for citizens' rights both inside and outside the legislative assembly.
Vinesh Phogat Slams FIR Against Rahul Gandhi Over Haldwani Incident
During her interaction with the media, the Congress legislator also addressed the political firestorm surrounding the recent FIR filed against senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in connection with the Haldwani incident. Dismissing the legal action as politically motivated, Phogat labeled the move a deliberate ploy orchestrated by the ruling party.
"Whenever they find themselves cornered or exposed, they resort to such statements and FIRs to construct a diversionary narrative," Phogat stated. She argued that accountability was misplaced, asserting that legal action should have targeted those directly responsible for the incidents rather than penalizing Rahul Gandhi for raising his voice.
Condemning Disrespect Toward Mallikarjun Kharge and Dalit Rights
Expanding on party grievances, Phogat strongly condemned the alleged disrespect shown toward Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge and the broader mistreatment of Dalit communities. She emphasized that such behavior toward a senior national leader and marginalized groups is entirely unacceptable.
Concluding her remarks, Phogat reiterated that filing an FIR against Rahul Gandhi was merely an attempt to suppress genuine national debate, obscure accountability, and manufacture political controversy to distract the public from core issues.
