There is good news for air travelers. The average airfare on many domestic routes around Diwali has come down by 20-25 percent compared to last year. This information was given in an analysis. According to this, the prices have come down due to increased capacity and the recent fall in oil prices. An analysis by travel platform ixigo showed that the average airfare on domestic routes has come down by 20 to 25 percent. These prices are for the average one-way fare based on 30 days advance purchase date (APD).

Bengaluru-Kolkata flight fares reduced by 38%

The average airfare for a Bengaluru-Kolkata flight has dropped by 38 percent to Rs 6,319 this year from Rs 10,195 last year. The ticket price on the Chennai-Kolkata route has dropped by 36 percent to Rs 5,604 from Rs 8,725. The average airfare for a Mumbai-Delhi flight has dropped by 34 percent to Rs 5,762 from Rs 8,788. Similarly, ticket prices on the Delhi-Udaipur route have fallen by 34 percent to Rs 7,469 from Rs 11,296.

Fares are reduced on these routes too.

The decline is 32 percent on the Delhi-Kolkata, Hyderabad-Delhi, and Delhi-Srinagar routes. Ixigo Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Alok Bajpai told PTI that last year, airfares had surged around Diwali due to limited capacity, mainly due to the suspension of Go First Airlines. He said additional capacity has been added this year, leading to a 20-25 percent year-on-year decline in average airfares on major routes in the last week of October.
