This expansion has solidified the bloc's position as a powerful voice for the "Global South," representing a significant portion of the world's population and economy, independent of traditional Western-led alliances.
For India, a founding member, the BRICS forum remains a cornerstone of its foreign policy. It provides a vital stage for promoting multilateralism and advancing the interests of developing nations. Since taking office in 2014, Prime Minister Modi has consistently participated in the annual summits, underscoring India's commitment to the group's vision.
