On March 18, Gal Gadot, the Hollywood actress known for her roles in Wonder Woman and the Fast & Furious franchise, was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking a significant milestone in her career. However, the celebratory occasion was overshadowed by protests as pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli demonstrators clashed nearby, reflecting the ongoing tensions surrounding the Gaza conflict.

Dozens of protesters gathered just as the ceremony was concluding, despite the area being cordoned off with a tent to shield the event from view. The protesters chanted slogans such as “Up up with liberation, down down with occupation” and “Not another nickel, not another dime, no more money for Israel’s crime,” with emotions running high. One protester voiced strong disapproval of Gadot’s recognition, stating, “There’s no reason we should be celebrating an Israeli,” accusing her of not using her platform to address the issue. The protester added, “She keeps her head in the sand.”

Protests Escalate During Walk of Fame Ceremony

The situation became more intense when a pro-Palestinian protester seized an Israeli flag and attempted to flee the scene, prompting a response from the authorities. Police acted swiftly to prevent the situation from escalating further. Despite the disruptions, the Walk of Fame ceremony continued, with many Hollywood stars present to honor Gadot's career achievements.

Gadot’s Gratitude and Acknowledgement of Her Career

The event, hosted by Steve Nissen, featured appearances by Patty Jenkins, Vin Diesel, and Israeli actress Shira Haas. In her speech, Gadot expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the honor, saying, "I’m just a girl from a town in Israel. This star will remind me that with hard work and passion and some faith, anything is possible." She also acknowledged the profound impact her career has had, especially recalling her big break in the Fast & Furious franchise. Gadot thanked Vin Diesel for giving her the opportunity, saying, "You took a chance on a complete unknown and invited me to the Fast and Furious family, talk about starting big. It was my first movie ever, and your faith in me completely changed the course of my life."

Upcoming Projects and Career Success

While the protests highlighted the ongoing divisions related to the Gaza conflict, Gadot's career continues to thrive. The actress is set to star as the Evil Queen in Disney's live-action remake of Snow White, in which Rachel Zegler stars in the titular role. The highly anticipated film is scheduled for release on March 21, further cementing Gadot's status as one of Hollywood's leading stars.
