In the intervals of Friday to Saturday, the Indian army claimed that the Pakistani army initiated minor firing across the LoC region of Kashmir. As per the report, the Indian soldiers retaliated with fire from personal weapons and somehow there weren’t any injuries on either side.
As per the brief by the Army, “On April 25-26, 2025, several posts of the Pakistan Army unsparingly and simultaneously aimed crossfire in almost every region of the Line of Control in Kashmir. Their forces responded with individual firearms and no injuries were sustained.”
The Indian army had previously claimed that they had countered the firing with an adequate response after Pakistani forces had crossing the firing boundary first. This was on Thursday when PTI had military sources marking the date of reported fire as outside of Jammu and Kashmir.
After all conditions were reported calm, it was PTI that put forth the claim that Pakistani forces resumed open fire while Middle Eastern sources cited them as previously quoting the army.
First sentiment can be met with the discretion the army showed and then claim around willing to be without control.
Increasing Tension Between India And Pakistan
Tensions mounted between both nations after the suicide bombing in Pahalgam which brutally murdered 26 civilians along with a foreigner and a local.
Army Chief General Upendra Rawat reached Kashmir on Friday and held a review of the security scenario with senior Army commanders.
As a response to the cross-border connections to the Pahalgam attack, India issued a range of punitive steps on Wednesday which included stopping the 65 year old Indus Waters Treaty, closing the Attari land border crossing, and expelling Pakistani military attaches.
New Delhi also instructed all Pakistanis present in India who entered the nation through the Attari land border crossing to depart by May 1.
In retaliation, Pakistan announced the closure of its airspace to all Indian flights as well as halting trade with New Delhi, even through third-party nations. Islamabad further objected India’s suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, stating any attempts to restrict the flow of water belonging to Pakistan under the agreement will be considered an “‘act of war.’”
