Former Bangladesh cricket captain Tamim Iqbal was rushed to the hospital on Monday after suffering a massive heart attack during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match held at BKSP in Savar.

The 36-year-old cricketer was leading Mohammedan Sporting Club against Shinepukur Cricket Club when he suddenly experienced chest discomfort on the field. He received immediate medical attention and was transported to a nearby hospital for further evaluation.

Initial Signs and Emergency Response

According to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief physician Debashish Chowdhury, Tamim complained of chest pain and underwent an ECG upon arrival at the hospital. His initial blood test showed abnormalities, prompting concern.

"He said he was feeling uncomfortable and wanted to return to Dhaka. An ambulance was arranged. On his way back to the field from the hospital, he experienced chest pain again and was urgently taken back to the hospital," Chowdhury confirmed.

Surgery Underway: Stent to Be Inserted

Doctors later confirmed that Tamim Iqbal had suffered a massive heart attack. He was immediately admitted to Fazilatunnesa Hospital, where he is currently under observation and undergoing surgery. A coronary stent is being placed to treat the affected artery and ensure proper blood flow.

BCB Responds, Meetings Rescheduled

In light of the incident, several BCB directors rushed to Savar to monitor the situation. The scheduled board meeting was also rescheduled to prioritize Tamim’s health and ensure the board’s support during this critical time.
