Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A state of high alert has been declared in dozens of villages across Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh as heavy rainfall in Nepal has caused the Narayani River to swell to dangerous levels. The rising waters have triggered widespread panic among residents living along the riverbanks, who fear imminent flooding and erosion.

The Narayani River, which flows from Nepal into India where it is known as the Gandak River, is currently seeing a massive influx of water from its catchment areas due to incessant rains. At the Valmiki Nagar barrage, located upstream from Kushinagar, the river's discharge has surged to 184,000 cusecs, pushing the water level above the official danger mark.

While the river has not yet crossed the danger level within Kushinagar itself, its rapid rise is a cause for grave concern. The district administration has been put on high alert, with officials from the Irrigation Department continuously monitoring the situation.

Villages situated near the AP Dam, Piprasi Dam, and the Pipraghat area are considered particularly vulnerable. Residents are anxiously watching the swelling river, fearing that their homes and agricultural lands could be washed away if the water continues to rise. The administration is on standby to take necessary measures as the situation develops, but for now, a sense of fear and uncertainty grips the region.
