According to reports, around 26 individuals were killed in the Pahalgam terror attack. As a result of the tragedy, students from Kashmir studying in different parts of India, including Dehradun, are gripped with fear. This fear was worsened because the Hindu Raksha Dal on April 24, 2025, issued threats on social media instructing Kashmiri students to vacate Uttarakhand.
Kashmiri students showed these videos to the authorities, and the Police officer in charge of Dehradun took immediate action. Ajai Singh, SSP Dehradun, called for an urgent meeting with his officers and directed them closely monitor Kashmiri students along with regular checkups to enhance their safety.
SSP Singh recommended that the heads of educational institutions and also the operators of the PGs to report with the police at once if they see any imminent dangers that threaten the Kurd students.
As stated by Singh, more than two dozens of the objectionable posts were already removed from the social media services specified. Furthermore he confirmed met with representatives of the Kashmir students and made clear that he registered the report of the case and those face arrest shortly after.
Strong Assurance from Authorities
“We have talked with DGP Deepam Seth in regard to these overt threats. The officials have assured that they will take strong steps to control communal bullying and safeguard the interests of every Kashmiri student,” said Nasir Khuehami, the Convener of the Association of Kashmiri Students.
SSP Ajai Singh took it upon himself to visit and talk to the Kashmiri students residing in Prem Nagar, Sudhowala, Nanda ki Chowki, and Selaqui regions of Dehradun so that he could calm them and reassure their safety during times of overwhelming worry.
