Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A fabricated movie poster has ignited a firestorm on social media, placing Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh at the center of undeserved criticism. The controversy erupted after a fan-made poster for a non-existent film titled "Sardaar Ji 3," featuring Diljit alongside popular Pakistani actress Hania Aamir, went viral online.
Despite the poster being entirely fake, it was enough to trigger a wave of negative reactions from some netizens. Critics quickly condemned Diljit for supposedly agreeing to work with a Pakistani artist, citing the strained political relationship between India and Pakistan. The informal ban on Pakistani artists in the Indian film industry, which gained momentum after the 2019 Pulwama attack, was frequently mentioned in the heated online debate.
Social media comments ranged from expressions of disappointment to accusations of being "anti-national." One user wrote, "You can't expect anything better from him," while another questioned his patriotism for the fictional collaboration.
However, the backlash was met with a strong defense from Diljit's massive and loyal fanbase. Many fans immediately pointed out that the poster was clearly a work of fiction and that no official announcement about such a project had ever been made by the actor or his team. They rallied in support of the star, dismissing the criticism as a reaction to baseless rumors and misinformation.
The incident highlights the volatile nature of social media and the sensitivity surrounding collaborations between Indian and Pakistani artists. While the controversy was built on a lie, it underscores how quickly misinformation can spread and provoke intense public debate, even when directed at one of India's most beloved performers. As of now, neither Diljit Dosanjh nor Hania Aamir has commented on the fake poster.
