'Awaarapan 2' Music Composer Akhil Sachdeva Opens Up About Being Dropped from Major Films

Talented music composer Akhil Sachdeva, who recently delivered the soulful chartbuster "Piya Ghar Aaya - Homecoming" for the Emraan Hashmi starrer Awarapan 2, has made some striking revelations about his journey in the Hindi film industry. Despite delivering hit tracks, the composer shared that he faced professional setbacks and was unceremoniously dropped from several high-profile projects.
Dropped from Major Films at the Last Minute
In a post-release interview with IANS in Mumbai’s BKC area, Akhil opened up about the hurdles he faced behind the scenes. He revealed that despite composing and even recording songs for multiple major films, he was replaced at the last minute.
"Last year, I was dropped from several big films at the last minute, even though I had already composed songs for them," Akhil shared. Choosing not to name specific projects or point fingers, he added, "I can't say people were wrong, I just say that timing wasn't on my side."
Choosing a Balanced Life Outside the Rat Race
Unlike many artists who relocate to Mumbai to chase mainstream Bollywood networking, Akhil prefers maintaining creative independence. Operating primarily from his home studio in Delhi, he likes to keep his workflow quiet and focused.
"I don't want to balance anything. You can never balance anything, no matter how hard you try," Akhil explained.
"I have a different mindset; I want to be alone, not join the rat race... I come quietly, work quietly, and leave."
How Fatherhood Changed His Fortunes
Despite industry politics and sudden professional disappointments, Akhil remained resilient, attributing his turnaround and renewed creative energy to a major personal milestone: the birth of his daughter.
Reflecting on his philosophy of persistence, he noted, "Whatever God has written for you will happen, and even when He has not written anything, He still asks you to try till the end. Then my daughter came along, and things got much better."
