In a town hall event in Green Bay Wisconsin, Musk stated that, as chief of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), ‘it’s costing me a lot to be in this job,’ which highlighted the challenges he is currently facing. Musk also stated, "The radical left say that we’re stealing social security. First of all, I don’t need the money. In fact, it’s costing me a lot to be in this job. You had Tim Walz dancing on stage showing a chart of Tesla stock, which is an awful thing to do. What they’re trying to do is put pressure on me and Tesla so I stop doing this. They cut my stock and the the stock value of everyone holding Tesla in half. This is an expensive job, is what I’m saying."

Musk's statement about job challenges drew applause from the audience. In attendance were voters who Musk placed 'spokespersons' of his political group after gifting them $1 million checks each. This in turn emphasizes the statement made by Musk about the election, branding it as crucial to propelling the vision and agenda of Trump and “the future of civilization."

Musk intends to retire from his cost-cutting post with Trump towards the end of May, having trimmed the US deficit by a trillion dollars, as he told The Fox News on Thursday.

Musk (54) noted that achieving that target- which would cut the federal deficit by half- within 130 days would be easy as his team was averaging “$4 billion a day…every day…7 days a week.”

While speaking on Fox News Special report with Bret Baier, musk claimed that he was confident that his DOGE would be able to find a trillion dollars in savings, bringing the current federal spending of 7 trillion down to 6 trillion dollars. Under the terms of his designation, the White House classified him as a “special government employee” which limits his work to 130 days therefore, his time in charge of DOGE operations will conclude at the latest by the end of May.

While talking about his term, Musk said, “I think we will accomplish most of the work required to reduce the deficit by a trillion dollars within that time frame.” He was later asked how quickly he expected to have the cost-cutting task sorted.
