Voter List Discrepancies: BJP Vs. Trinamool Congress (TMC): These days, the tensions over the voter list disputes between BJP and Trinamool Congress (TMC) is notable. A discrepancy case pertaining to the voter list was recently filed with the Election Commission. They have now summoned the BJP, TMC and BJD party workers for training on the legal framework of elections and voting in what has been termed as an “enlightenment campaign”. As per reports, it appears that all three parties are now on board with this initiative.  

Training for Workers: Federal delegates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) were at the commission today to address the voter list problems. As per reports, It appears all 3 parties had U-turns and decided to have their booth level agents, counting agents, and other election agents to the commission’s training sessions.  

Comments by the Commission

The Commission has previously mentioned on its official social media page 'X' that it informed the Trinamool Congress team regarding their worries about phantom voters, duplicate illegal migrant card holders, death voters, and duplicate voter card numbers being resolved with full participation of each and every booth level attendant and booth level malware representatives from all political parties on behalf of the concerned Electoral Registration Officer.

The Election Commission of India has decided to meet the BJP today and they informed that only a person aged above 18 and who is a resident of India and is a citizen can register as a voter in the polling booths in the resident’s vicinity. They also briefed the BJD that political parties form a vital core of the process of an election and must be considered in all phases including planning and execution.
