Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The breathtaking Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh flaunted his first-ever appearance at the Met Gala 2025 and gained attention for his regal look inspired by Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. His outfit incorporated several traditional touches such as embroidery and Gurmukhi script alongside jewels made specifically for the occasion. Despite capturing the attention of a global audience, there was a notable gap in his ensemble—the original Patiala Necklace.

Why Diljit Couldn’t Wear the Maharaja’s $2.5 Billion Necklace

According to him and his team, adding the original necklace that the Maharaja wore in 1928 would have further accented the homage. Called the Patiala Necklace, the necklace was constructed by Cartier in France, and holds 2900 diamonds and a whopping 1000 carats of diamonds. Currently, the necklace is estimated to be worth 21,000 crore in Indian rupees (around $2.5 billion).

As per the information that was provided by Diljit’s stylist, Abhilasha Devnani, the team tried to acquire the iconic necklace for the Met Gala, but Cartier informed them it is restricted from loaning any pieces as it is permanently enshrined in a museum. Instead, Indian jeweler Golecha created bespoke pieces including a turban brooch inspired by the Maharaja's collection.

Emma Chamberlain Wore Part of the Necklace in 2022

In the year 2022, Emma Chamberlain was spotted wearing a diamond choker that has a protrusion of the Patiala necklace. That piece has been missing for decades and has now mysteriously resurfaced.
