Dhananjay Munde has resigned: A Cabinet Minister in the Maharashtra government Dhananjay Munde has resigned from his position. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also accepted his resignation. Munde, who is in charge of the Food and Civil Supplies Ministry, has tendered the resignation from the post as per directions of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The opposition parties were constantly asking for his resignation ever since one of his close aides was arrested in connection with the murder of a sarpanch in the Beed district in December.

The information on Munde’s resignation was given by the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, while interacting with the journalists. Fadnavis stated, ”Dhananjay Munde, the minister from Maharashtra, has submitted his resignation today. I have accepted it and forwarded the same to the governor for action now.”

As per the reports, Fadnavis’ letter arrived after a discussion with Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, which focused on the political fallout of the chargesheet in the sarpanch’s murder case, and the emerging evidence regarding Karad's supposed involvement.

As per the reports, Fadnavis had tried getting his resignation because one of the ministers, Dhananjay Munde, had an aid that was captured and accused of the murder of Santosh Deshmukh’s Sarpanch. Informed sources revealed that the Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar met with Fadnavis on Monday night to evaluate the outcomes of the CID’s chargesheet on Deshmukh’s murder and two other cases which Karad has been brought in as accusatory number one.

Munde is a member of National Congress Party and is the sitting MLA for Parli in Beed and also currently serves in the cabinet as the state’s food and civil supplies minister. Previously he served as the guardian minister of Beed. Currently Ajit Pawar chief of NCP serves as guardian for Pune and also Beed district. The sarpanch of Masajog village in Beed, Deshmukh was kidnapped, brutally beaten and murdered on December 9 last year when he enacted as a blockade towards an extortion scheme directed at a power company located within the district.

On the 27th of February State CID presented a chargesheet of more than 1200 pages to the court of Beed district regarding the murder of Deshmukh and these two other connected issues.

Three distinct incidents have been reported at the Kej police station in Beed. These include the killing of the sarpanch, the attempted extortion from Avada company, and the assault on the Firm’s security guard. Police invoked the tough enactment of the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for the accused of these crimes. To date, seven individuals have been arrested and charged under MCOCA.
