ICC Champions Trophy 2025: A series of meetings are being held between the ICC and the PCB regarding the organization of the Champions Trophy to be held in February and March next year, on which no decision has been taken so far. In the meeting held on November 29, it was expected that some big decision would be taken by the ICC, but now it has been postponed for a day after the meeting, on which a final decision will be taken on November 30 on how the tournament will be organized. People from both the BCCI and PCB boards were present at the ICC meeting.
ICC wants to conduct the tournament on a hybrid model
Pakistan is hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 alone, while the BCCI had already made it clear that it would not send the Indian team to play in Pakistan, the biggest reason for which is the worrying security situation there. The BCCI had already expressed its consent to play on the hybrid model in which the Indian team’s matches were given the option of being held in another country. However, the PCB is not ready at all for this move of the BCCI, in which it is adamant about organizing the entire tournament in its own country.
ICC has these options for the tournament
The ICC will never be ready to play this tournament without India and in this situation, they have only 2 options. The first option is that the Champions Trophy 2025 should be played in a hybrid model in which the Indian team plays its matches at a neutral venue while all the remaining matches are played in Pakistan. The second option that the ICC has is to let the hosting rights of this tournament remain with the PCB and shift the tournament to some other place. Now all the fans will be watching what decision the ICC takes on November 30.
