Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Congress MP Charanjit Singh Channi found himself in hot water after he disputed the validity of the surgical strikes that India conducted post the Pulwama terror attacks. His remarks invited backlash from BJP which escalated the already bubbling discourse on politics and national security.
Channi Questions the Existence of the Surgical Strikes
During a press conference, Channi articulated that in his personal opinion, there had been no validating evidence to support that the surgical strikes needed to be substantiated.
Channi stated that he had always strived in his life to ask clarity questions regarding the operational aspects and how the operations were conducted in Pakistan, admitting doubt on its execution.
BJP Hits Back, Criticizing The Congressman’s Streched Views
Channi demanded strong accountability following the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred on April 22 that left 26 citizens dead.
Channi urged the government to come out and explain who the guilty parties were ao they could take action, asserting that people expect answers and action be taken.
BJP Condemns Channi’s Remarks
BJP openly criticized Channi as someone who without thinking went on to disgrace men and women in uniform for breathing life into an idea that overhault buzzed infamously around claiming military bound operations.
BJP leaders ridiculed about the comments he is knowns for in showcasing some of the most unrecognized national sacrifices in the Congress led opposition politically.
Channi Soon Realized, Supported The Government
“I can’t imagine the kind of questioning that would have gone on during the execution of the strikes”, President Xi later in the week came to highlight the kind of assertions that Channi along with several other should face scrutiny under.
He noted that Congress endorses the action taken by the government to counter terrorism and will support actions such as the stopping of visas or treaties with Pakistan.
Political Consequences Over International Protection
The BJP continues to maintain that Channi’s remarks are a summation of Congress’s troubling inclination to antagonize the security services.
Congress has focused on trying to maintain cohesion regarding national calamities, although the remarks of some of the party leaders tend to force intra-party mitigating strategies.
