Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Fiercely criticizing the Modi government, the Congress party claimed that the central government has compromised on national security for economic gain. During the press briefing, AICC Media and Publicity Department Chairman Pawan Khera maintained that the Indian government purportedly lifted restriction on Operation Sindoor, which was supposed to be a surgical strike on terror camps in Pakistan, as a result of US pressure.

Khera alleged, “Sindoor ka sauda hota raha aur Pradhan Mantri chup rahe,” suggesting that trade relations were prioritized over the retention of operations.

Gandhi’s Allegations and Trump's Role as Peacekeeper

Rounding up the discussion, Trump’s remarks were quoted by Khera relating to Amerikan involvement. The President of the United States was quoted claiming he “stopped the war” after threatening India would cut trade relations if it did not withdraw militaristic action towards Pakistan.

Khera raised a concern regarding statement from Foreign Minister S Jaishankar in context of the aforementioned remarks, demanding that India needs to clarify whether such external influences on India’s restraining military action compromised national security and armed forces sovereignty.

Operation Sindoor’s Jaishankar’s Explanation and Background

Jaishankar had previously explained that during Operation Sindoor, India at the outset notified Pakistan that the strikes were meant to destroy terror infrastructure and military installations would not be engaged. He remarked that Pakistan was given the option of not engaging but chose to do so.

Subsequently, India’s Ministry of External Affairs had to clarify that detonation was communicated at the initial stage of the operation timeline, countering claims that communications were made pre-strike.

Recall that Operation Sindoor is a reaction to the terror attack of April 22 at Pahalgam where 26 civilians were slaughtered. The operation aimed at a specific set of nine identified terror camps in PoK and Pakistan and was titled ‘Sindoor’ as a mark of vengeance to the widow women whose husbands were slain.

Congress Criticizes Modi For Inaction Against Global Powers

Pawan Khera along with other Congress leaders was seen in support of Rahul Gandhi’s remarks arguing why the Modi government chooses to keep quiet when dealing with powers such as the US and China. He questioned why no steps have been taken for justice regarding the Pahalgam incident, accusing BJP’s leadership of not defending the nation’s sovereignty against foreign pressure.

Understanding The Background and The Political Rhetoric

This is not the first time the Congress scathingly critiques Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the extent that they have called him ‘Maut ka Saudagar’ back in 2007 by Sonia Gandhi in relation to his ‘2002 Gujarat Riots’.

The upcoming elections make the “Sindoor ka Sauda” accusation more intense, spotlighting foreign policy, national security, and overarching political fighting.
