Armstrong returns to her previous post after a shift in administrative policy by Columbia University recently issued which is said to have preceded the restoration of 400 million dollars worth of government funding during Trump’s administration. “As I planned when I took on this interim position, and with the support of the Board of Trustees, I am returning to my role as Chief Executive Officer of Columbia University’s Irving Medical Center, Executive Vice President for Health and Biomedical Sciences, and Dean of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine and the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons,” Armstrong noted in their statement to the University published on the University’s page on Friday.
Columbia University’s Board of Trustees appointed Claire Shipman the co-chair of the board as Acting President while looking for Armstrong’s replacement.
