Suspense crime, Digital Desk : On Wednesday, the Indian government made changes to the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) and appointed Alok Joshi, the former chief of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), as the new chairman. The new integrated board has seven members in total, envisioned from India’s defence, diplomatic, and intelligence expertise.
What Are the New Member’s Details?
Joshi and Sinha are joined by newly appointed members:
Air Marshal PM Sinha - Former Western Air Commander
Lt. General AK Singh - Former Southern Army Commander
Rear Admiral Monty Khanna
Rajiv Ranjan Verma - Retired IPS Officer
Manmohan Singh - Retired IPS Officer
B. Venkatesh Varma - Retired IFS Officer
These changes are expected to improve the board and its capability to advise on issues of paramount national security concern drawing from experience in the armed forces, warfare, diplomacy, and internal security.
Reconstruction comes after the Pahalgam Terror Attack
The reconstruction comes after the latest terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on 22nd April where 26 people including a Nepalese citizen were killed. This restructuring is considered part of the Centre’s initiative to strengthen strategic and security advisory frameworks countering emerging challenges.
