Q2 Earnings Wrap: NBCC Profit Jumps 34%, Motherson Gains 14%
Leading Indian corporate heavyweights across automotive ancillary, construction, paints, and renewable infrastructure have declared their financial scorecards for the July–September second quarter of the 2026-27 fiscal year, reflecting a stark divergence between operational resilience and persistent inflationary headwinds. State-owned project management entity NBCC (India) and automotive components manufacturer Samvardhana Motherson posted double-digit net profit growth driven by sustained order execution, whereas decorative coatings major Berger Paints saw operating margins squeeze under raw material spikes. Concurrently, solar manufacturing firm Satvik Green recorded a steep 75 percent contraction in quarterly bottom-line figures, underscoring intense margin erosion across the clean-energy equipment landscape.
Samvardhana Motherson Delivers Solid Performance as Net Profit Reaches ₹1,175 Crore
Auto components powerhouse Samvardhana Motherson reported steady operational progress during the second quarter, logging an 8.6 percent year-on-year increase in consolidated revenue from operations at ₹38,280 crore against ₹35,244 crore during the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. The company’s consolidated net profit registered healthy growth of 13.9 percent to stand at ₹1,175 crore compared to ₹1,032 crore in the prior-year period. Operational momentum remained intact as earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortisation (EBITDA) rose 8.4 percent to ₹3,357 crore from ₹3,096 crore, keeping its consolidated EBITDA margin stable at 8.7 percent despite prevailing global supply chain adjustments.
NBCC Surges with 33.8% Profit Jump and Doubled Operating Margins
Public sector construction giant NBCC (India) demonstrated strong execution capabilities, posting a 16.5 percent year-on-year expansion in second-quarter consolidated revenue to ₹3,396 crore from ₹2,914 crore in the base period. The PSU's net profit surged 33.8 percent to ₹206 crore compared to ₹154 crore reported in the prior year. Operational efficiency drove an aggressive turnaround in profitability, with EBITDA more than doubling from ₹104.5 crore to ₹225.5 crore, pushing the company's operating EBITDA margin up to 6.6 percent from 3.6 percent in the previous year.
Satvik Green Faces Margin Squeeze as Quarterly Net Profit Plunges 75%
Renewable energy manufacturer Satvik Green experienced severe bottom-line distress despite achieving positive top-line growth. While quarterly revenue expanded 17.6 percent year-on-year to ₹903 crore from ₹768 crore, its net profit dropped 75 percent to ₹21 crore compared to ₹85 crore in the year-ago period. High raw material input costs and severe pricing pressures crushed operational profitability, causing EBITDA to fall 59.5 percent from ₹111.2 crore to ₹45 crore, while EBITDA margin compressed to 5.0 percent from 14.5 percent in the corresponding quarter last year.
Berger Paints Records Modest Profit Rise to ₹217 Crore Amid Raw Material Headwinds
Decorative paint manufacturer Berger Paints logged a 13.2 percent year-on-year growth in consolidated revenue to ₹3,200 crore from ₹2,827.5 crore, while net profit grew 5.3 percent to ₹217 crore compared to ₹206 crore in the corresponding period of the previous year. EBITDA rose 5.1 percent to ₹370 crore from ₹352 crore, though EBITDA margin moderated to 11.6 percent against 12.4 percent a year ago due to expensive crude-linked raw materials. The management indicated that foreign currency fluctuations, geopolitical friction, and volatile input costs remain near-term margin overhangs, with the company preparing to implement phased retail price hikes in November and beyond to safeguard operational margins.
