Suspense crime, Digital Desk : For the courage and operational skill displayed during Sindoor, an operation in the Jammu frontier, BSF Assistant Commandant Neha Bhandari has been honored with the Commendation Disc by Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Upendra Dwivedi for valor and operational skill of the highest degree.

Bhandari, who commanded a forward post within the visual range of the Pakistani forces, led her team with great gallantry in the neutralization of three enemy posts beyond the zero line in Akhnoor sector of Jammu.

Sindoor–An Operation Marked with Indomitable Courage and Tactical Accuracy

From her unit’s point of view, Neha Bhandari was personally decorated for commanding her unit during a critical and sensitive operation near the International Border (IB) on 30 May 25. There was a hostile action from the other side, and action was taken by her unit in a coordinated manner neutralizing the enemy’s fire as well as their hostile action.

BSF Jammu has shared the post on social media celebrating her “exceptional courage and operational proficiency.”

Women at War: Rising Josh and Resilience

Bhandari didn’t have to worry about being the only woman in the field. Along with her were six BSF Women Constables who took up active positions at forward gun positions in Samba, R S Pura, and Akhnoor sectors.

For every bullet discharged, the josh of the forces significantly soared. This shows the increasing participation of women in defense operations at the frontlines in India.

A Third Generation Officer from Uttarakhand: A Milirary Family Legacy  
 
Neha Bhandari belongs to a family with rich military and paramilitary history:  

- Her grandfather was in the Indian Army  
- Both of her parents served in the CRPF.    
- She proudly is a third generation defender of her family.  

She quoted, “I feel proud to be manning a post along the International Border with my troops” while posted 150 meters away from a Pakistani post in the Akhnoor’s Pargwal area.
