Suspense crime, Digital Desk : In a major development with significant political ramifications, Padi Kaushik Reddy, a prominent legislator from Telangana's opposition party, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has been arrested by Hyderabad police in connection with a serious extortion case.

The arrest follows a formal complaint lodged by a man named Syed Firasath Ali. According to the First Information Report (FIR), Ali alleged that Kaushik Reddy and an accomplice, Donthu Sridhar, demanded a staggering sum of ₹25 lakh from him. The demand was allegedly a form of blackmail; the payment was solicited to prevent a false criminal case from being filed against Ali.

The complainant stated that he was coerced into paying ₹10 lakh of the demanded amount. Following the complaint, the police launched an investigation and took swift action.

A case has been officially registered under stringent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including Section 386, which pertains to extortion by putting a person in fear of death or grievous hurt, and Section 120B for criminal conspiracy. While Kaushik Reddy, a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) representing Huzurabad, is now in custody, authorities have confirmed that his alleged co-conspirator, Donthu Sridhar, is currently absconding.

This high-profile arrest of an opposition leader is set to create ripples across Telangana's political landscape, placing the BRS party under intense scrutiny as the legal proceedings unfold.
