Bloodbath in Amritsar: Parking Dispute Triggers Gunfight, AAP Leader and Opposing Faction Shot in Broad Daylight

Post

In a shocking breakdown of law and order, a violent clash erupted in Amritsar's Kot Atma Ram locality after a seemingly minor dispute over vehicle parking rapidly escalated into an open exchange of gunfire. The bloody confrontation has left a senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and another individual critically wounded, triggering intense panic and chaos across the residential neighborhood.

The high-profile cross-firing has instantly put the local police on high alert, with specialized teams rushing to the crime scene to defuse emerging tensions and gather ballistic evidence.

Turban Knocked Off in Initial Scuffle

The incident began when the son of the prominent AAP leader, identified as Jaipal Singh Bau (the party's in-charge for Ward No. 42), parked his vehicle outside the residence of a retired police officer, Tejinder Singh. The ex-cop raised a strong objection to the vehicle blocking his entryway, which quickly sparked a heated verbal argument between the two neighbors.

According to senior police officials, the confrontation turned physical within moments. During the initial melee, the AAP leader's son allegedly struck the retired officer, knocking off his turban before temporarily leaving the spot.

Backup Arrives with Weapons as Both Sides Open Fire

The peace was short-lived as the argument took a sinister turn a short while later. The party leader's son returned to the spot, accompanied by his father, Jaipal Singh Bau, and his brother. The group arrived heavily reinforced and reportedly armed with weapons, including a kirpan (ceremonial sword) and a firearm.

A second, far more violent confrontation broke out instantly. As tempers boiled over, members from both factions allegedly pulled out firearms and opened fire directly at each other. Multiple rounds were discharged openly on the street, forcing horrified residents to scramble indoors for safety.

Two Hospitalized with Bullet Wounds; Condition Monitored

The open-air shootout resulted in severe casualties on both sides. The AAP leader, Jaipal Singh Bau, was struck by a bullet in the leg, while an individual associated with the retired cop's group, identified as Narendra Singh, also sustained serious gunshot wounds. Both injured individuals were immediately rushed to a nearby private hospital, where surgeons worked to stabilize them. Medical teams have confirmed that while the injuries are severe, both patients are currently out of danger.

Following the news of the clash, senior AAP MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar visited the medical facility to assess Bau's condition, describing him as a dedicated party volunteer and demanding a transparent, unbiased probe.

Self-Defence Claims Checked via CCTV Footage

The local B-Division police station has cordoned off the entire Kot Atma Ram area and initiated a comprehensive investigation. Investigators have already recovered crucial CCTV footage capturing the exact sequence of the gunfight.

While the AAP faction alleges a targeted assault on the leader's family, the opposing side has officially stated to investigators that they opened fire purely in self-defence after being threatened by the armed group. Senior police officials emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against all individuals who took the law into their own hands, regardless of their political affiliations.
