A confrontation occurred on Friday between BJP MLA from Hapur, Vijaypal Aadhati, and Panchayat Assistant Development Officer (ADO) Bishan Saxena during a government press event. The conflict emerged after Saxena declined to arrange tea for attendees. The District Magistrate responded by transferring Saxena to Garhmukteshwar. However, MLA Aadhati is pushing for stronger disciplinary measures.
Officer Refuses Tea Service, Escalating Tensions
Following a press conference celebrating eight years of the Uttar Pradesh government, Block Development Officer (BDO) Shruti Singh invited the MLA for tea. With a delay in service, Aadhati requested tea promptly, citing another scheduled commitment. When BDO Singh questioned Saxena about the delay, he reacted strongly, saying, "I have already served tea once. Should I keep serving tea the entire day? Even if the President or Chief Minister were here, I wouldn’t serve tea repeatedly."
The comment sparked a heated exchange. A commission agent later alleged that Saxena used inappropriate language concerning the Prime Minister and Chief Minister.
MLA Seeks Chief Minister’s Intervention
In response to the incident, the District Magistrate ordered Saxena’s transfer to another block. However, MLA Aadhati expressed dissatisfaction with the decision, stating, "This is insufficient. I will escalate this issue to the Chief Minister. Strong action is required against both the BDO and ADO."
Defending himself, Saxena claimed, “I’m senior to the MLA and an official, not a peon. We already served tea once, but he kept demanding more. Also, the MLA addressed me disrespectfully.”
