Information has come to light that tomorrow i.e. on Tuesday, 17 December 2024, a bill related to One Nation One Election will be introduced in the lower house Lok Sabha. Simultaneous elections for Lok Sabha and state assemblies
The Constitution Amendment Bill to hold simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the country is likely to be introduced in Parliament on Tuesday. According to PTI sources, it may be sent to the joint committee of both the houses. The Union Cabinet led by PM Modi decided last week to hold simultaneous elections for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, but no decision has been taken yet on how the local body elections will be conducted.
The session will end on December 20
The bill related to One Nation One Election was listed as the agenda of the House’s work on December 16. However, now it will be introduced in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. According to the information, the Modi government has distributed copies of the bill to the MPs so that they can study it. Let us tell you that the winter session of Parliament is ending on December 20. Therefore, the government has only 4 days left to introduce this bill related to One Nation One Election.
Opposition parties oppose
Various opposition parties including DMK, Trinamool Congress have expressed concern about One Nation, One Election. Opposition parties argue that this rule can disrupt the federal structure of the country, weaken regional parties and concentrate power at the center. At the same time, the ruling party says that the move of One Nation One Election will be cost-effective and governance-friendly and it is the need of the hour.
