Jeevika Didis to Stitch School Uniforms for Middle School Students After Successful Anganwadi Project
A remarkable wave of women empowerment and rural economic self-reliance is sweeping across Bihar, setting new benchmarks for community development. The skilled women associated with the Jeevika Sewing Center, operated under Yash Enterprises in Sathi village of Uchkagaon block in Gopalganj district, have been entrusted with a prestigious new responsibility. Building upon their phenomenal success in stitching uniforms for pre-primary Anganwadi children, these dedicated rural women—affectionately known as 'Jeevika Didis'—will now expand their operations to stitch school uniforms for middle school students across the region.
Massive Success in Stitching Uniforms for Anganwadi Children
The initiative has already achieved incredible operational milestones under the guidance of district administrators. Jeevika BPM Neha Kumari shared that the sewing center was initially assigned the monumental task of stitching uniform sets for 2,23,082 children enrolled in pre-primary education across all 14 blocks of the Gopalganj district. Operating with high efficiency, a dedicated team of around 65 Jeevika Didis has been producing roughly 1,000 uniform sets daily. Out of the fabric provided for 1,62,900 children so far, the center has successfully stitched and delivered an impressive 1,43,497 uniform sets, proving the unmatched productivity and skill of the rural workforce.
Administrative Inspection and Enhanced Welfare Facilities for Workers
Recognizing the immense hard work and dedication of the Jeevika sisters, local administration officials conducted a rigorous on-site inspection of the sewing center on Sunday. Gopalganj Block Development Officer (BDO) Manoj Kumar Pandit, Jeevika BPM Neha Kumari, and Area Coordinator Pankaj Kumar visited the facility to interact directly with the artisans and address any operational challenges. To ensure the health, safety, and comfort of the working women, the BDO announced immediate welfare upgrades, including the installation of a purified RO drinking water system within a week and the organization of monthly health check-up camps by the local health department.
Transitioning to Middle School Uniform Production
With the Anganwadi uniform assignment nearing successful completion, the Jeevika Sewing Center is gearing up for its next major expansion. Administrative officials confirmed that once the current phase wraps up, the same centralized workshop will seamlessly transition into stitching school uniforms for students enrolled in middle schools throughout the district. This progressive step not only guarantees sustained, year-round employment and financial independence for rural women but also reinforces the government's commitment to grass-roots economic growth through self-help groups.
