The Bihar political scene is heating up after the release of the draft voter list for 2025, part of the Election Commission’s special intensive revision process. An unexpected controversy has emerged involving none other than Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha. The Congress party claims that Sinha holds not one, but two EPIC (Electors Photo Identity Card) numbers—essentially, two voter cards tied to two different constituencies.
So, what’s going on? According to Congress, one voter card issues Sinha as a resident of Lakhisarai, showing his age as 57, with his father named as the late Sharda Raman Singh. This card holds EPIC number IAF39393370 and serial number 274. The second card, however, associates his name, spelled here as Vijay Kumar Sinha—with the Bankipur constituency in Patna. Here, his age is listed as 60, father’s name remains the same, and he’s given a new EPIC number: AFS0853341, with serial number 767.
Congress, spearheaded by leader Tejashwi Yadav, is pressing for answers: How can the Deputy CM have two active voter cards? They argue that such a situation, especially involving a senior BJP leader, raises serious questions about the Election Commission and the democratic process. The party has formally demanded a thorough investigation.
This fresh drama adds fuel to Bihar’s already charged political climate, with debates on electoral integrity now taking center stage. All eyes are on the Election Commission to see how they’ll address these serious allegations.
