Suspense crime, Digital Desk : India's Bar Council Chair Manan Kumar Mishra made statements on behalf of his organization over the weekend, requesting that Kolkata Police handles the case of influencer Sharmishta Panoli with due procedure following her controversial arrest for allegedly criticizing Hindi film actors' silence regarding 'Operation Sindoor' over a now deleted post.

Mishra, who is also a civil servant, stated that he spoke with conviction in defense of Panoli. He expressed that her being apprehended and put in judicial custody after offering an apology was gross overreach of justice and violation of the fundamental human right of free expression.

Sharmishta Panoli, aged 22, lives in Kolkata and is a law undergraduate at Pune’s University Law College. She was arrested in Gurugram on Friday evening and presented in a Kolkatta court on of Sunday. She was then placed on remand until 13th June.

Manan Mishra Slams Government Strategies

Addressing the media, Mishra said that it was worrisome that the very government that previously condemned the recently executed 'Operation Sindoor', which was a counter-terrorism operation, was now suing a student for simply raising concerns regarding the inconsistency of public reactions to such actions.

Mishra made clear that not using the precise terminology does not amount to an affront. He further clarified that exposing a youthful learner to legalistic paraphernalia while turning a blind eye to the prior violent outrages perpetrated by affiliated group autocrats is an obscene affront to fundamental human decency.

Make a demand for a legislation devoid of laws and boundaries under which people are treated equally.  

Mishra’s remark has captured the attention of many political enthusiasts as he has pointed out that no democracy is complete without the civil or serious infringement of law and order when a nation is experiencing justice being served in a manipulative manner. He called on the government of Bengal as well as the police to refrain from picking on particular people and dispense judicial equality.  

He went on to say Sharmishta Panoli should be set free without further delay. He spoke of the need for her to be given a fair hearing and cease the monologued submission to a jury they call a court.
