The Ram Temple in Ayodhya will host another consecration event next month. This ceremony will celebrate Lord Ram’s coronation as King, following the installation of the Ram Durbar (royal court) on the temple’s first floor.

This upcoming event is expected to be more modest than the “pran pratishtha” of Ram Lalla held last year. That previous ceremony was led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and attended by over 8,000 guests.

Temple Construction Nears Completion

Construction of the Ram Temple began in 2020 after a Supreme Court verdict ordered the formation of a committee to manage the project. Nripendra Misra, former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, currently leads the construction committee.

According to Misra, the main structure will be finished by mid-April. Around 20,000 cubic feet of stone still needs to be placed. By April 30, all statues for the temple, including those outside and inside the rampart, will be delivered, with most being installed between March 25 and April 15.

Final Touches and Installations Underway

At the time of last year's “pran pratishtha” ceremony, only the ground floor with the sanctum sanctorum was complete. The idol of Ram Lalla, 51 inches tall, was crafted by Arun Yogiraj from Karnataka.

Now, the Ram Durbar is being sculpted in Jaipur by a team of 20 artists led by Prashant Pandey. They are using white Makrana marble. A statue of Saint Tulsidas, who authored the Ramcharitmanas, will also be installed in the temple complex.

Temple Architecture and Museum Details

Built in the traditional Nagara style, the Ram Temple measures 380 feet in length, 250 feet in width, and 161 feet in height. It stands on 392 carved pillars and includes 44 doors.

Additionally, an International Ramkatha Museum will be built around 4 kilometers from the main temple site. It will include a holographic depiction of Lord Ram, immersive displays based on the Ramayana, and exhibits documenting the 200-year Ram Temple movement. Archaeological findings from the site will also be displayed there.
