Suspense crime, Digital Desk : The District Court in Haryana has placed Ali Khan Mahmudabad, an associate professor of Ashoka University, under judicial custody after his social media post regarding Operation Sindoor resulted in his arrest. The authorities seemed to take offense to post which was deemed antagonistic towards the Indian Armed Forces and the women officers who served during the mission
Haryana Police initially applied for a seven-day remand period, which was denied by the Sonepat Court that placed the Professor under judicial custody instead. The next date of hearing has been set for the 27th of May.
Arrest Details and Background
The detenue who serves as the Head of Political Science at Ashoka University has been taken into custody on the past Sunday, his remarks purportedly constituted a slanderous attack on Colonel Sofia Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh who participated in the media briefings for Operation Sindoor.
A First Information Report was lodged at the Rai Police Station in Sonipat, Haryana on accounts of some of the most astonishing parts of the chapter on pro-violence advocacy. It includes other portions within the scope of defamation of public institutions and incitement of violence and disaffection.
The Supreme Court of India has agreed to hear an urgent plea
The CJ of India was moved with an urgent request on behalf of Mahmudabad pleading for discrimination on Monday. Kapil Sibal who served as the counsel for the said professor urged the bench to consider this matter as priority claiming that the arrest was absolutely blatant claiming the controversial post in question was rather pro national.
The Supreme Court is likely to look into the matter in the next couple of days in which Mahmudabad aims to annul the FIRs filed against him.
