Anurag Kashyap the film producer is under complaint for one of his social media comments directed at the "Brahmin" community. The tirade later sparked controversy which led to RTI activist Atish Tiwari filing a case in Oshiwara Police Station Mumbai under IPC for hurting religious sentiments.
BNS Fir charges Alongside IT ACT
The sect charged under the FIR includes the 194/198 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita BNS along with section 67 of IT ACT. The informant has tried to propose the argument that Kashyap put forth was Not merely a rebuttal but hate speech and derogatory violence fueled by caste discrimination.
Activist Offensive Remark: Condems DivisiveComments
This Brahmin community is hereby condoned primordially disrespectful comments slang note bound to abuse and thus the complaint goes further to state that the respondents statement poses danger of violence and pancreatic attack which misrepresented a community that possesses a rich culture, deep and extend beyond all sorts domineering roots to violence.
The statement also states that orders are needed to be given to this in regard to these preposterous statements made by the filmmaker.
Anurag Kashyaps response to the comment was rather aggressive. His knee jerk left many words to be used which were vulgar sometimes even bang out derogatory terms to others deemed it casteist for his statement.
Kashyap issues an apology and follows it with a clarification.
In response to the backlash, Kashyap posted a video on social media where he said that his comment was taken out of context. He also mentioned that he's sorry for the misunderstanding, explaining that he and his loved ones were facing rape and death threats. That being said, Kashyap did clarify that he regretted not the entire post but rather the line that led to the outrage.
