Protests and shutdowns have been called in various cities across Uttarakhand over the Ankita Bhandari murder case. Trade unions and other organizations have closed the Srinagar-Srikot market to demand the disclosure of the names of VIPs involved in the Ankita murder.

Protest in Rishikesh

Rishikesh. Pratik Kalia Sharma, general secretary of the Rishikesh Industry Trade Delegation, opposed the Congress party's call for a Uttarakhand bandh. He said that now that Chief Minister Dhami has fulfilled the victim's parents' demand for a CBI investigation into the Ankita Bhandari murder case, such protests are no longer justified. He appealed to businesses to keep their establishments open today.

Srinagar, Garhwal. The call for a Uttarakhand bandh had an impact in Srinagar. The market remained closed until 9:30 a.m., with traders keeping their shops closed. Markets in the city's Ganesh Bazaar, Veer Chandra Singh Garhwal Marg, Kala Road, Upper Bazaar, Bhaktiyana, Bilkedar, and Srikot were also closed. Social organizations had called for a bandh demanding a CBI investigation into the Ankita Bhandari murder case, under the supervision of a Supreme Court judge.

Closed in Roorkee

Roorkee. The police administration has made strict security arrangements for the Roorkee bandh called by various organizations in response to the Ankita Bhandari murder case. However, after talks with several organizations involved in the bandh, the administration has been successful in convincing them. The Congress is also participating in this bandh, and after a procession in the market, the Congress will burn an effigy of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at 12:00 noon. Police Circle Officer Narendra Pant said that strict security arrangements have been made by the police.

The decision to close in New Tehri remains unchanged.

New Tehri. Devendra Nautiyal, convener of the Bhoomiyal Jagriti Manch and executive president of the State Movement Forum, Tehri, stated that the shutdown, as previously announced, will remain in place in connection with the Ankita Bhandari incident. Under this program, local traders, including forum officials, will gather at Hanuman Chowk between 10:30 and 11 a.m. From there, a protest march will be taken out through the city's internal roads to Bouradi Bazaar.
