Suspense crime, Digital Desk : A brutal attack on a religious preacher in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, has sparked outrage among prominent saints and religious leaders in Kashi (Varanasi), who are now demanding swift and severe action from the Yogi Adityanath government.

The incident involved Aacharya Devmurari Bapu, a well-known kathavachak (religious storyteller), who was mercilessly beaten by a group of individuals over an alleged land dispute. A video of the violent assault has since gone viral on social media, amplifying the anger and concern within the religious community.

Reacting strongly to the news, saints in Kashi condemned the attack, framing it not just as a criminal act but as an assault on the Hindu faith itself.

Mahant Balak Das of the Patalpuri Math in Kashi expressed his fury, stating, "This attack on a preacher is an attack on the saffron cloth and on Sanatan Dharma. Such an incident happening under the government of Yogi Adityanath, who is himself a symbol of our faith, is unacceptable and brings shame." He warned that if the culprits were not brought to justice immediately, saints would be forced to take to the streets in protest.

Jitendraanand Saraswati, the National General Secretary of the Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti, echoed these sentiments. He questioned the state of law and order, saying such incidents tarnish the government's image. "The Yogi government is known for its strong stance on law and order. An attack on a saint is a direct challenge to that reputation," he said, demanding that the authorities take exemplary action against those responsible.

The collective outcry from Kashi has transformed a local crime into a high-profile issue, putting significant pressure on the Uttar Pradesh government to act decisively and ensure the safety of religious figures in the state.
