Peshawar: The US has become cautious given the situation prevailing in Pakistan. The US Embassy has issued a security alert here and asked its citizens not to visit Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province in northwestern Pakistan, till December 16 due to ‘security concerns’. The US has issued a security alert titled ‘Threat to Serena Hotel, Peshawar’. US embassy personnel have been advised to avoid visiting this hotel in Peshawar and to exercise caution.
What did the US Embassy say?
“US citizens are advised to avoid visiting the hotel and its surrounding area during this period, and reconsider travel plans,” the US embassy said in a statement. It said US citizens are reminded of the advisory issued in September that advised against traveling to the province in question due to terrorism concerns.
Protests in Pakistan
Meanwhile, it should also be mentioned here that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party had staged a protest demanding the release of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan. During this, many protesters were killed and after reports of an alleged attempt to hide it, an Indian-American MP has demanded a ban on visas of senior Pakistani officials and confiscation of their assets.
