Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Social media outcry is centered around Bollywood star Alia Bhatt and her mother, Soni Razdan, after Razdan posted a peace appeal amid escalating Indian and Pakistani conflicts. The Instagram post, which has been deleted, called for signing a peace petition saying, “Above all – Sign the Peace Petition. Link in bio.”
Both mother and daughter made frequent targets of online trolling. Users expressed disdain towards their allegiance to India, particularly noting the Indian-British citizenship of Alia Bhatt.
Criticism for National Allegiance Heights
The comment section was full with users bashing Soni Razdan, claiming she lacks ground reality awareness. “Appeals for peace seem fanciful to the people who are involved in armed chase confrontations, especially when Indian soldiers are risking their lives at the border,” claimed one user. The same user expressed discontent towards Alia Bhatt enjoying Indian privileges while holding a foreign passport.

Soni Razdan Stands Firm On Her Position
In response to criticisms, Soni Razdan claimed that her plea for peace was aimed at Pakistan not India. She stated that India was merely defending itself and that her claim was over-simplified, not in opposition to the flag. She further stated, “War is a terrible thing. Anyone who has experienced it would never wish it upon others.”
Netizens Critique Film Participation and Patriotism
Some netizens noted Razdan’s performance in patriotic movies such as Raazi and remarked that they were frustrated over her calling for peace. To this comment, Razdan responded, maintaining that supporting peace does not equate to a lack of support for war. She said, “Peace should be between two countries, unless you think Pakistan is fighting itself?”
Alia Bhatt’s Citizenship Questioned
During the promotions for her Hollywood debut Heart of Stone, Alia Bhatt confirmed that she holds a British passport. Although she was born and raised in India, she obtained British citizenship through her mother who is from Birmingham UK.
Soni Razdan Responds to Criticism Over Citizenship
On criticism regarding Alia’s citizenship, Soni Razdan commented, “People who you as citizens urges don’t vote out of hate, it’s not about citizenship, it’s being humane. We are humans before we are citizens.” She reaffirmed her commitment to the democratic and secular principles with the hashtag #VoteOutHate.
