Trichy: An Air India Express plane broke down mid-air in Trichy, Tamil Nadu. It is being said that the hydraulics of the wheels of the plane, which turn inwards, had failed. However, as soon as the pilot came to know about this, it was decided that the plane would be landed back at Trichy airport. However, during this time 20 ambulances were deployed at the airport, and nearby hospitals were also put on alert. Now a video of the inside of the plane has also surfaced, in which passengers can be seen inside the flight.
After the accident, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin also held an emergency meeting with officials over the phone. After receiving the news of the landing gear issue, I immediately held an emergency meeting with officials over the phone. Instructed them to implement all necessary safety measures including deploying fire engines, ambulances, and medical assistance. I have also instructed the District Collector to ensure the continued safety of all passengers and provide further assistance. My congratulations to the Captain and crew for the safe landing.’
Air India Express responded
Air India Express has also reacted to this incident of technical fault. The company said that no emergency was declared by the operating crew of the aircraft. Air India Express has also explained why the aircraft was made to circle repeatedly. Air India Express said that after reporting the technical fault, the aircraft circled several times in a specified area before landing safely. This has been done to reduce the fuel and weight of the aircraft keeping in mind the length of the runway. Air India Express further said that the reasons for this incident or fault will be thoroughly investigated. Along with this, the company has said that an alternative aircraft is being arranged for the passengers.
