Hannah Elsakr, Global Head of New Business Ventures and Founder of Firefly for Enterprise at Adobe, has shared that she thinks that the time for Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is much further ahead. While speaking at the Adobe summit in Las Vegas, Elsakr stated that having studied AI for over three decades, there appears to be advancement, but the implemented AI technologies may be far from true AGI.

“AI is not new—I have studied AI for 30 years. There are progressions happening, for sure, but I don’t think we’re there right away for AGI,” she said.

Firefly for Enterprise: Adobe’s AI Solution for Transforming Creativity in Business

In 2023, Adobe launched Firefly for Enterprise, a platform for generative AI designed for business. It lowers barriers to enterprise adoption by offering training of custom models, APIs, and even IP indemnification.

As per Elsakr F, Firefly has already accrued over 50 enterprise clients. Its usage stems from commercial reliability and safety features. Adobe integrated Firefly into its operations and lowered its marketing costs and turnaround time over Black Friday by more than 50%. A productivity and efficiency AI, as opposed to a job killer. Under this segment, Elsakr shrugged off concerns of AI taking over jobs saying it is akin to the implementation of Excel in the finance world. She said, “AI is not going to replace humans. It’s going to replace people who don’t know how to leverage AI tools.” This is similar to the argument made by Infosys Chairman Nandan Nilekani who said, AI cannot take over the role of a human that embodies empathy, leadership or creativity. Elsakr pointed out that AI does not replace, but, rather enhances human creativity. Creative workers are now directly applying AI in the work they do. Adobe meanwhile continues to fund ethical AI advancements by paying artists whose content fuels the models that Firefly uses through the firm’s stock contributor system.

A Step Into The Future: AI As A New Partner In Creativity.

He believes that AI will enable more opportunities rather than limit them. Essentially, while Firefly automates creativity, Adobe still hopes to nurture the need for human ingenuity.
