Television actress Shubhangi Atre recently shared her feelings following the death of her ex-husband, Piyush Poore, who passed away on April 18 due to liver cirrhosis. Known for portraying Angoori Bhabi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, Shubhangi opened up about their troubled marriage and the reasons behind their separation.

In her interview to Times of India TV, Shubhangi expressed her discontent with the way people assumed things online after the news of Piyush's demise. It was very simple for everyone to comment without shedding any light on the real situation, as she goes on to say explaining the emotional toll took on Piyush’s war with alcohol and how it affected them was the center of their conflict.

Years of Pitting Struggles Against One Another Before Separation

I tried to mend the marriage by pushing him towards rehab but to no avail. Shubhangi further went on to explain how, despite familial support on both sides, addiction severely compromised their life.

The couple started facing difficulties towards the back half of 2018 to early 2019, leading to a legal document divorce in February 2025. My daughter, Ashi, became my main priority and driving thought in all of this, Shubhangi marked a quote explaining that the focus of her life and reason to live shifted after she had her daughter.

Continuing to Show Support Inspite of the Divorce

Post-divorce, Shubhangi still spoke to and stayed in contact with Piyush along with his family. She mentioned that of him on April 16 wishing for his healing. “I’m still emotional and numb,” she shared. She does intend to travel to Indore after some time to stay with Piyush's family during this rough patch.

These comments from Shubhangi's are quite often neglected but they highlight the complexity of the issues facing families struggling with addiction, and the sometimes heart-wrenching choices that are required to care for someone.
