A freight train derailed between Churuk and Chopan railway stations in Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning due to mountain debris falling on the tracks due to heavy rains. At the same time, train operations were disrupted for some time after the rail track was found broken in the Jaunpur district. According to the news received from Sonbhadra, a railway official said that a freight train derailed between Churuk and Chopan railway stations of the district on Monday morning due to mountain debris falling on the tracks due to heavy rains. Due to the accident, the movement of trains was disrupted for several hours, but there is no news of any casualty.

The goods train was going from Chunar to Chopan. 

He said that on Monday at 3:00 am, when a goods train going from Chunar to Chopan moved ahead from Churuk, due to heavy rains, its engine got derailed after colliding with the debris fallen from the mountain near pole number 159/21 of Ghaghra river near Brahma Baba bridge and the goods train stopped there. After this accident, the movement of trains on the tracks was disrupted. On receiving the information of the accident from the driver and guard of the goods train, the officials immediately became active and repair work was done to resume the movement on the tracks. Due to this accident, the goods train going from Lucknow to Chopan was stopped at Chunar and the route of Jammu Tawi Express (Up) was changed to Garhwa. Sonbhadra Railway Station Master Ajay Babu said that an accident had happened, but the officials reached and got the debris removed from the tracks, and the movement of trains started.

Railway track broke near the railway crossing

At the same time, train operations were disrupted for some time after a railway track was found broken in the Jaunpur district of the state on Monday morning. Station Master Krishnanand Pandey said that a railway track broke near Rajnipur railway crossing, east of Harpalganj railway station of Sultanpur Railway Division. The incident came to light at around 7:00 am, when Suheldev Express coming from Sultanpur passed through the damaged track with a loud noise. He said that the control room was immediately informed about the broken track. As a result, the Sadbhavna Express coming from Delhi was stopped at Harpalganj station. The repair work took about two hours, after which the operation of trains was restored.
